Empathy in Action - Volunteer Spotlights

Shriyanka-Hiremagalur-Empathy In Action.png

Her dad told her about DIPG, our foundation and the work we are doing, Shriyanka immediately wanted to support us by donating proceeds from her book sales to our foundation. What a great gesture Shriyanka! This is what we call Empathy in Action. We are truly grateful for your support!

Shriyanka Hiremagalur is currently a freshman at Notre Dame High School in San Jose. In her free time, she likes to hang out with her friends, listen to music, watch basketball, and spend time with her family.

From a young age, she has always had a passion for computer science. Last year, she co-founded an app called Girlz Elevate that helps in solving mental health issues for teenage girls ranging from 10-19 years old through daily challenges, groups, a mood journal, and many other pages that keep a user of the app occupied. Because she was so interested in researching more about mental health, she wrote and published a book  called “Lift me to happiness” on Amazon that reflects upon the story of a girl named Celia with mental health issues. Shriyanka wanted to bring awareness about mental health issues because teenagers are very vulnerable and often times are not aware of how serious this issue is.

Support Shriyanka's cause by purchasing her book on Amazon and spreading awareness about mental health.

When Shriya told us about a plan she had for supporting our foundation while pursuing her passion for Bharatanatyam, an Indian classical dance form, we were humbled and very grateful. Thank you Shriya!

Dance With Shriya is based in San Ramon, California and rooted in the classical Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam. The purpose of ‘Dance With Shriya’ is to help beginning students learn this style of Indian classical dance, at no cost (anything the students donate goes directly to support Mithil Prasad Foundation).

Ever since she can remember, Shriya loved dancing. Her mom enrolled her in Bharatanatyam when she was 5 and has been dancing since then. She has performed on various stages, like: temples, churches, art festivals and her dance academy’s annual recitals. In February 2023, she did her arangetram, a two hour debut solo performance. For the past three years, Shriya has been a teacher assistant at Vrindavan Dance Academy.

If know of kids or adult who want to check out if Bharatanatyam is for them, then join Dance with Shriya.
